Since we know that paying a company overseas might leave an awkward feeling, we are more than happy to put your mind on easy by getting you in touch with plenty of our former guests. Below this email I will copy some testimonial emails we received; please feel free to contact as many of our former guests as you like. I know Fred Parsells (a retired police officer from Keene, NH) is always up for a chat.... Also Linda Myers , Belinda Metzger and Dennis Ricke are very nice people to talk to. Please let me know if you have trouble reaching out to them.

Subject: RE: Markus Germann - Viatorius Tours Hi Michael.  I have NO hestitancy about any dealings with our friend Markus.  Our trip to Germany with him was our best trip ever and we hope to do another with him in the next year or three.  The accomodations and restaurants he finds are all Wunderbar and he is so relaxed about changes to his itinerary in order to provide better service and experiences.  Viatorius is a first class organization and Markus makes sure it stays that way.  Germany is such a remarkable country and we had a great time!  Hope you do, also.  The only downside is we are now totally spoiled for any other tours that are less personal and amazing.  Wire away with no fear.....I am sure your trip will be worth every Euro.

Subject: Markus Germann - Viatorius Tours To Linda Meyers –
Markus Germann gave me your contact as a reference for his tour company.  I understood you toured with him in last year.
I apologize for bothering you, but would you mind taking a minute to advise me if you were pleased with Viatorius and would have any hesitancy about wiring him a pot full of money in advance again?

Markus – We are finally back home and over the jet lag.  Our last two days in Berlin after Robert left us went well.  We wanted you to know that we enjoyed our tour very much, and Robert was a wonderful companion – that’s the way we came to think of him, more than driver or guide (although he of course was good as both).  We believe the range of places we visited gave us a great overall picture of your great country, just as we had hoped.  Can’t really think of a thing we’d change. Please feel free to offer us as a reference for potential clients.  We wish you the best!  Michael L. Mayo Mayo Manufacturing Corporation Texarkana, TX 903-838-0518

Hi Mike......

We are currently on vacation in Florida, trying to escape an especially brutal winter in New Hampshire, however, my wife and I always have time to sing the praises of Markus and Viatorius Tours. My wife found him on Trip Advisor and thus began our wonderful tour and relationship. We have been used as a contact and reference for Markus numerous times since our trip. We did post a testimonial on his web site that we encourage you to read also. In terms of highly endorsing Markus and Viatorius many times, to date not one previous contact, like you, wrote back or called me to say how wrong I was. I take that to mean that they were all as pleased as my wife and I were and we are sure you too will be. Everything that we agreed to, and more, was met and exceeded by Markus. His English is great, his driving superb and his knowledge of his country and where to go, what to see, where to eat was impressive. He was flexible with our itinerary and any whim we might have come up with at no additional charge. We cannot recommend him more highly. I am going to be brief because the steaks are on the grill but feel free to call me at 603 313 0450 if you have further questions.......now is the time to go to Europe/Germany because the Euro is more on par with the US dollar. Please say hi to Markus for us......

Respectfully,

Karen and Fred Parsells

Hi, Markus--
SO glad you liked our gift! I loved putting it together, because I got to "re-live" all the wonderful times we had in Germany. Great memories.
Jim and I haven't made any travel plans yet, but we will definitely contact you the next time we plan to cross the Atlantic. If you (and your family) are ever in the New York area, we would love to have you as our guests (or at least meet you in New York for a nice dinner).
Last, if you ever want to use Jim and me as a referral, we'd be happy to help... or you could just show them your book.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful new year!
Hugs back, Belinda

Hi, Patricia--
Re: payment, when I hired Markus Germann, I used PayPal (which paid the funds in cash to Markus, but charged my AmEx card that it had on record). Very easy. Nevertheless, if you don't use PayPal, then I would have no qualms about wiring funds to Markus. He is as trustworthy as they come, which leads me to my comments about Markus.
My husband and I have already toured through northern Germany, and I wanted my husband to see southern Germany, which I've toured twice, but my husband had never had the opportunity to see. I hired Markus for a private driving tour from Frankfurt, Germany, through southern Germany, ending in Salzburg, Austria. It was difficult to say good-bye to him in Salzburg... I wished I'd hired him throughout the rest of our journey through Austria, Normandy, and Paris.
I cannot say enough good things about Markus. His English is better than most Americans, he's very intelligent, has a great sense of humor, and he's a terrific conversationalist (when you feel like talking). We were totally comfortable with him during our "quiet moments," too, and he's not offended if you don't feel like talking, although admittedly, we had some wonderful, lively conversations about many different subjects that had nothing to do with our tour. We enjoyed his company so much, we invited him to join us for almost every meal (breakfast, lunch & dinner), with a few exceptions when my husband and I felt like dining alone. He easily goes with the flow... whatever the client wants, he'll deliver. When I first told him we wanted him to be our guide in Munich, he admitted he was not as familiar with Munich as other parts of Germany, but would be prepared to give us a guided tour of the city by the time we got there... and he was. Not only is Markus a terrific guide, he's also a safe driver. He has some regular clients whom he has given private driving tours to in countries other than Germany. My husband and I fully intend to hire Markus again the next time we're in western Europe, regardless of the country. His primary objective is to make sure his clients have the best services, the best advice about what to see and where to eat, and to ensure the client's experience is the best it could be. He certainly exceeded our expectations as our driver and guide through southern Germany (and I've had the privilege of hiring LOTS of private tour guides during my travels).
My husband and I are both retired and we travel a lot, both in the USA and globally. I learned years ago to always hire private tour guides wherever we go (saves a lot of time, and you consistently see and learn so much more). Of all the guides I've ever hired (and there have been many), Markus was by far the best guide I've ever had. As I said, I cannot say enough good things about Markus. If you can get Markus to actually be your guide (instead of one of his other guides), you would be extremely fortunate. My guess is that he's in high demand, given all the consistently good reviews he gets. I suspect Markus' standards are high enough that you can't go wrong with one of his other guides, but if Markus is available to be your guide for your private driving tour, grab him... and don't worry about wiring the funds.
I hope this has been helpful to you and wish you a spectacular trip!
Belinda

I really did enjoy the trip and can see why having a personal guide is so important.  Linda and I wish you the very best of success in your wonderful business helping people love Germany. Have a great day.

>> I cannot recommend Markus Germann and Viatorius Tours enough. We know that any trip you place with him, especially in Germany, will have depth and imagination along with high-quality service throughout the trip.
>>
>> My wife and I understand this is a big financial commitment. We understand it is a little scary to send money overseas and cross your fingers and hope for the best. That is exactly what we and the couple we travel with decided to do. Markus should be able to give you other travelers names and numbers who toured with him in the past and you'll be able to make a decision more calmly after speaking with them. That is the path we chose. Markus was able to personalize our trip so we could visit our ancestral lands and visit with the descendants of our common ancestors. For me that was the highlight of the trip as I am doing the family genealogy. But Markus's plans really covered all of Germany for us based on our initial request to him. Of course our requests could've taken as long as a month to cover.  But Markus was able to hit the most important things on our list and give us excellent reasons for his decisions.
>>
>> To say the accommodations were superb is an understatement. We stayed for 10 days in Germany and did a circular route around the entire country. Every hotel room and breakfast room was way above what we thought would rate four or five star in the United States. This of course was all included in the price.
>>
>> The depth of understanding of German culture is what we were seeking. Markus hired two specialists to take us through the cities of Berlin and Munich. They handled all of our questions and added great insight into the history and culture of Germany.
>>
>> So what you might ask is different from Viatorius and Cosmos Tours?  If you really want to begin to understand thousands of years of German history and culture you cannot do that flying by a city at 100 miles per hour. You need someone who is immersed in the culture, language, and daily life. That is what makes Viatorius so special.  I'm a bit of a history fan and asked quite a few questions of both guides and Markus. No one stumbled or gave anything but carefully thought out responses. This is a more expensive way of seeing Germany in the short run. But we feel that we have a much clearer understanding of the German society and won't have to make several more trips because of that depth of knowledge. So we paid a little more since our meals in the evening were not included but we received so much more by having someone there to interpret and explain all that was around us.  I might also add they were great listeners. So many trips we've been on where you had the feeling the traveler was on the tour guides schedule, not so with Viatorius.
>>
>> Hopefully this short note will remove most doubts that you might have about how well this will go. My wife and I will be happy to answer any questions that you might have. Markus is free to give you our phone number and/or email so that we might remove any hesitations you may have.  Have a great trip!

Markus, I’m sitting here on the plane about to return to America.  It is always good to go home, but we will miss Germany and our good friends at Viatorius Tours of Germany. You and Alex did an excellent job.  We will never tour on a “Big Bus” again.  You have spoiled us.

Please feel free to use me as a very satisfied reference.

Thank you from your friends from America,

Peter, Rhonda, Aimee, Luke, Claire, Kirk, Brittany and Jon

Michael, I completely remember feeling the same way - we checked on Marcus's references and took what I thought was a huge leap of faith.  Our vacation couldn't have been more delightful, I traveled with my 2 girls and brother and sister-in-law.  Our trip was beyond anything we could have expected, Marcus took us to so many places and he knows all the best areas to stay and dine.  We are definitely going back!  I have to say that I wasn't very excited when my daughter chose to go to Germany for her college graduation but there is so much to see and do there and the castles and towns and shopping and zip-lining the Alps (and the beer gardens!)  I would have to tell you do not hesitate to tour with Marcus, he is now a good friend of the family, he is honest and caring and will give you the vacation of a lifetime.  My only condition going back is to make sure that we tour with Marcus.  Feel free to send any other questions - we started our tour in his home town of Speyer, probably our favorite town. Regards, Mary

Guten Tag Markus, Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation.  We really enjoyed meeting you and of course experiencing the many treasures of Deutschland!
We are happy to be references if anyone has questions or if we can be of any assistance.  We were really pleased with all aspects and would be delighted to share our enthusiasm.
If you are ever in the Baltimore/Washington area, please let us know, we would love to have you for dinner and or help you site see this area of the world.
Thanks, Monty

Dear Markus and Astrid,
Cheryl and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you both for planning and leading our wonderful tour of Germany and Austria.  The hotels were super, the food and bier were always excellent, and the sites we visited were most impressive.      Astrid, you made each day an amazing personalized adventure, and helped everyone catalog many fond memories.  Our group always marveled at the breadth of your knowledge, as well as your boundless patience with our many questions. And even when we mangled your beautiful language, you remained kind and encouraging.  I'm sure you were glad to see us off after ten days.  Ha! We hope you have had some time to rest and recharge.
Nochmals vielen Dank fur unsere tolle Tour!  Vielleicht konnen wir eines Tages Eine weitere Tour planen.
Sincerely,
Cheryl and Mike H.
P.S.  And we reaffirmed the correct pronunciation of our last name!  Very cool!
